Troll Mill by Katherine Langrish

Troll Mill **SOLD TO HANISAH**

Fifteen-year-old Peer Ulfsson is haunted by his past. Forced to live with his evil uncles under the eerie shadows of Troll Fell, he nearly fell prey to their plan to sell children to the trolls. Now Peer lives with his friend Hilde's family, but can he ever truly belong? And will Hilde ever share his deeper feelings?

One rainy night, Peer watches in shock as his neighbor Kersten pushes her baby daughter into his arms and then disappears into the sea. Rumor says that Kersten is a seal woman who has returned to her ocean home, and the millpond witch, Granny Green-teeth, seems intent on taking the "seal baby." Peer also discovers that the mill, abandoned when his uncles joined the troll kingdom, is running again -- all on its own?

Seven Tears Into The Sea by Terri Farley

Seven Tears Into The Sea **SOLD TO HANISAH**

Gwen, 17, has returned to a small beach community seven years after the scandal that forced her family to flee. Now she's spending the summer working at her grandmother's inn and hoping to put the past behind her. The very first morning she's there, however, she meets Jesse, a boy who claims he already knows her, and knows what happened all those years ago. Overcome by her attraction to him, Gwen spends more and more time with him and realizes that he has secrets he isn't telling her. Her grandmother's tales of selkies foreshadow what is to come, and readers will probably guess the outcome long before Gwen does. If they can get past the sentimental title that belies the real story, the romance and mystery will keep them reading until the very end. Expect this to be popular where retold myths and fairy tales are in demand.–Ginny Collier, Dekalb County Public Library.

The Clique Series by Lisi Harrison

Revenge of the Wannabees *SOLD TO FEBRINA*

Apres-Thanksgiving. Weeks before Christmas. Alicia and Olivia are on their way to Manhattan so the Teen People editors can do a story on them about winning the Octavian Country Day uniform design contest. When Massie finally processes that the girls who hijacked her victory are also modeling for Teen People, she is livid. It should have been her. "Ehmagod, what will everyone think when they find out it wasn’t me who was asked to model? I will be SO over." Massie decides it's time to get revenge. This snake can not lay idle in the weeds for one more second. Kristen and Dylan throw out terrible "revenge" suggestions and Massie vetoes them all. She will think of something! But first she has to go home and exfoliate. The social minefields of Westchester County's most privileged middle school girls drive the page-turning action of this addictive series, set in New York City's most elite suburban county. The Clique...the only thing harder than getting in is staying in.

Best Friends for Never *SOLD TO FEBRINA*

In the second book starring Westchester County's most privileged middle schoolers, the Clique declares Massie a hero for hosting the first boy/girl Halloween party of 8th grade. Massie's already hired Landon Dorsey, the hottest party planner in the 9-1-4 area code, but her parents insist she has to invite the entire class. Unfortunately that means everyone. Layne is bummed that the boys will be there -- she IMs Claire that's so "DESPR8" -- as Claire wonders if maybe a boyfriend will make her happy.

Meanwhile, Massie and the Clique are fighting over who gets to invite Derek Herrington. Dylan thought it was obvious that she was the one who danced all night with Derek at the OCD benefit last month, but says "Whatevs" when Kristen gets all weird about it. Fine, she can have him. He was a terrible dancer anyway and there will be tons of guys to choose from at the party....

The Alice Series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

Achingly Alice *SOLD TO MIRAA*

Love is more complicated than Alice ever imagined!
Alice is on a mission - to marry off her dad and her favourite teacher, Miss Summers, so they can live happily ever after. But Miss Summers is in demand - the school principal wants to marry her too and she can't seem to make up her mind who she should be with.

How can you love two people at once? Alice can't understand it - until her friend Sam starts paying her attention. He's quiet, gentle and a terrific dancer - Alice likes being with him. But Alice has been Patrick's girlfriend for almost two years, so why is she suddenly into another guy?

Enchanting! I probably related the most to Alice in this book because of her sexual discovery and I think most girls will, too. Alice comes right out and says the stuff young girls are thinking and curious about and a lot of them are answered. If you are up tight and scared about bodily things, read this! If you're questioning where to draw the line with boys, read this! If you're wondering if you really are a womanly creature, read this! It made me feel a lot better and it probably will for you, too! - ruffledrain (Tokyo, Japan)

The Grooming of Alice *SOLD TO MIRAA*

Alice and her friends, Pamela and Elizabeth, are looking forward to the most exciting summer of their lives. To get into shape for the new school year they jog three miles a day and Alice is enjoying her volunteer job at the local hospital.

But things keep happening that Alice hadn't counted on. Her satisfaction with her job is marred by an unexpected sorrow. Her attempt to be a loyal friend to Pamela gets her in trouble with her father and brother, big time. And both she and Pamela are afraid that Elizabeth may be taking her efforts to lose weight too seriously. Could the most exciting summer of their lives be a little too exciting?

Very realistic and as good as always. Going through the period of time Alice and her friends are in The Grooming of Alice myself--the summer between 8th and 9th grade--I was startled by how well the book, in main theme at least, mirrored what for me is reality. As my friends and I have become increasingly self- and weight concious, I have wrestled with a desire to be thin(ner) and a fear of anorexia or the like. The Grooming of Alice not only addressed this, it offered a sensible but not official solution as well as girls' general fears about the normalcy of their bodies. In the same breath, it was funny as always and incorporated so many components of life, almost everyone should be able to find something to identify with. A few show-don't-tell lessons were a little too obvious, but, hey, this isn't meant to be Shakespeare. It's a good, easy, entertaining read about growing up a girl. - A customer.

Alice Alone *SOLD TO MIRAA*

Starting high school is every bit as exciting, and challenging, as Alice had hoped, and feared, it would be. Classes are more interesting, though Patrick isn t in all the same ones. And she s thrilled to have been chosen to work on the school newspaper, even though it takes up most of her free time.

But as she spends less time with her boyfriend, she realises the new girl, Penny, is moving in on him. Alice senses her relationship beginning to crumble - and with it her self-confidence. Could it be possible that Patrick likes someone else besides her?

This book was great! I finished the book the same night I got it! I wanted to finish it, so I wouldn't let myself fall asleep until I did. I was tired the next morning, but I didn't care...I finished the book, and that was all I cared about. You might want to have some tissues ready if you're the sentimental type. Some major stuff happens with Patrick and Alice - stuff everyone has been through, or will go through at some time in their life. Elizabeth's secret is bad, too, but I can't say more than that, cause that will ruin the suspense! Alice manages to come through with a clear voice. The emotions she has to go through speak so clear to everyone, that you will feel like you're Alice. Your not reading about her...you'll feel that you are her. Once again, Alice comes through clearly with feelings we all understand and have, but still manages to get through a message to us. - A customer
